Welcome to St. Lukes!

Autumn is in the air...

...and we are excited to see what God will do in this season. We want to invite you into our community. If you join us on Sunday morning, here's what you can expect:

good music: we mix traditional hymn with a few newer songs - guitar, organ and piano are regularly used to accompany the singing

good teaching: our pastor teaches in series - sometimes a series is theme-based, sometimes it is simply working through a book of the Bible - the goal is always to discover how God is speaking into our daily lives

good fellowship: we enjoy catching up with each other before and after service - we'd like to get to know you, too

good children's programs: we have a nursery for the youngest ones and a dynamic children's ministry

Summertime...

Welcome to St. Lukes!

Summertime...

...and the living is easy. Come out to join us in worship. Things are a little more relaxed during our summer months. Our building is cool (yes, we have air conditioning!), but people arrive for worship in shorts and casual summer clothes. After worship, our 'coffee hour' is changed to iced tea, lemonade and cookies in the lobby. The choir takes a break, but the music during worship is beautiful, and you can expect a few 'special music' moments during these months. Most of all, you can expect to find a community of people that know God, love God and seek to serve God.

Saddle Ridge Ranch comes to St. Luke's!

This year our Summer Camp has a western theme. Kids from ages 4 - 11 are invited to be part of a fun-filled week of discovering God's love for us. The camp runs from 9 a.m. - 12noon and includes games, crafts, music, snack, and a mission center. The cost is $10 per child, and you can sign up via email or by calling the office to leave a message at 905-725-5451.

Colossians

Welcome to St. Lukes!

Worship: Sundays, 10:30 a.m.

Join us as we begin the year by reading through Apostle Paul's Letter to the Colossians. Each week for the next couple of months, we will tackle a portion of this text. Colossians is a unique and interesting book of the Bible. Often Paul wrote to churches that he had planted (i.e. Ephesians, to the church in Ephesus, or Romans to the church in Rome). But Colossians was planted by someone else. It is believed to be an outgrowth of the church in Ephesus, and Epaphras is mentioned as the church leader.

Epaphras contacted Paul (who was in prison at the time) because the church was going off the rails. They believed that Jesus wasn’t fully capable of dealing with their sin. They believed He wasn’t unique. They believed that special knowledge and self discipline could earn God's favour. Paul wrote this letter to clear up some of their false beliefs.

In a lot of ways, the struggles that the Colossians faced aren’t terribly different than the ones you and I face today. We live in an increasingly pluralistic society. One that would tell us that Jesus is just one path among many. One that would have us relying on our own strength, instead of trusting Him.

The letter to the Colossians has much to say to us about who Jesus is, and why we need Him. Come out and spend some time exploring this book with us as 2010 rolls in.

Surviving Christmas

Welcome to St. Lukes!

Worship: Sundays, 10:30 a.m.

Join us as we begin an advent series called "Surviving Christmas." Every year, when Christmas rolls around, we have this image of how it will be: the snow will fall lightly, and perfectly timed so that it doesn't mess up our travel plans; the presents will be found - at a bargain - early and wrapped neatly under the tree; the family will gather and there will be cheer and food in abundance - no tears, no fights, no finding out at the last minute that the key ingredients for the feast were not purchased.

But then Christmas comes, and it doesn't quite go that way. We find ourselves having the same fights we've been having with our families for years. We find ourselves stressed out over what to buy, and how much we have already spent. We find ourselves rich in things, but poor in spirit.

There has to be a better way.

There is. And to find it together, we are going to look at some of the key teachings of Jesus how they might help us change how we approach this special season of the year.

Each week during Advent we will gather 15 minutes early to sing Christmas Carols. Come out at 10:15 on Sunday morning and choose your favourites!

Go Fish!

Welcome to St. Lukes!

Worship: Sundays, 10:30 a.m.

Join us as we begin a series called "Go Fish!" We will explore the idea that to follow Jesus is to fish for others. Why can't Christians just leave other people be and do their 'religious' thing on their own? It's not because we think we're better, it's because we know we are better off than we were before we had a relationship with Jesus. Over the next several weeks, we'll investigate why we need to share our faith and how we might go about finding the guts to do that.

For the last four weeks of this series (Nov 1 - 22) we will be hosting Growth Groups after the coffee hour. Come to worship, after the service grab a cup of coffee, then gather in a small group to discuss and apply the teaching we've just heard. Want to go deeper in your faith journey? Growth Groups are for you!

New Blog System

This is just a place holder until the new Blog System is fully in place.

You may see incomplete functionality and errors until the system is fully in place.

The new system will allow uploading of images, movies, and better linking to other websites and information.

The original blogs will be transferred over when complete - and will allow better notification and community involvement through the comments and updates section.

Please be patient - this will take time, but it will be worth it!
